Babies, Boobs and no more booze

Just a boy and a girl who fell in love, made it legit and are now starting a family full of light brown babies. Here goes nothing and everything all at the same time

Ok heres the reality

I’m a shitty blogger. I’m a shitty ‘regular’ blogger so I’m not sure how I thought I would be able to maintain two blogs.

I was worried about my main blog becoming too baby focused but really, that’s my life. I am carrying a genius fetus, I am worried about the gigantic size of my boobs and I am still swearing like a sailor. Why separate the two!?

if you want to join the regularly scheduled shit show, come on over. It’s updated more often and sometimes not as lame.

hope to see you there.

howshedoesit asked: Madeline was my great aunt’s name and she was a HUGE part of my life. I wanted to honor her. It meets most of your criteria EXCEPT it is a top 100 name, and worse Maddie is hugely popular because of all the little Madisons running around. She may hate me later. Samuel was Preston’s grandfather’s name. It is also a pretty popular name, but there is way less diversity in boy’s names. He’ll know 20 Matts, 15 Maxes, and about 3 million Zachs, so I think he’ll be okay with knowing a few dozen other Sams.

you should be warned that Tracy may not return Maddie this weekend. She may end up in Atlanta. She’ll be totally safe though if it happens you can visit her!

and I love this. We loved Madison for a while but yeah, I don’t want her to be Maddie H. at school. Madeline is such a pretty name. So girly and lovely. And Samuel is being incorporated into our boy name!

Cliff notes: I am stealing your child and you did good naming them! xoxo

The bunny has received the sweetest books from amazing friends and family but this is the first book Mike and I bought for it(god I can’t wait for there to be a gender! I’m not down with ‘it’). This book was one of my favorites and I hope it’s the bunnies too.

Learning new things* daily

* I was going to type shit instead of things but I am trying to watch my language. That is what we call growth folks!

So today I learned the difference between a doula and a midwife via twitter (@thealishanshow) and yeah, I had no idea there was a difference! Good to know.

But now, whats the difference between a doctor and a midwife? What are the benefits/drawbacks to each? I have no birth plan other than going natural for as long as possible. What should I do?

I think Tuesdays over here will now be dubbed “make important life decisions for Alishan day”.

So…whatcha got?

mar-see-ah asked: You tiny wonderful chic future mother, are you going to take advantage of the cheap maternity clothes that F21 is supposedly pumping out?

fact: I already ordered a cute sweater wrap thingie and some tanks from forever 21. don’t judge. that shit is cute and cheap.

judiism asked: we started our name search with the letter H because we knew we wanted to honor greg's deceased grandfather. there weren't a ton of H names that came even close to being contenders... but we did end up with a short list we liked. greg really liked the name haley, and i loved (love loved) the name harper. so we just kept bouncing back between those two and eventually thought of harley, which we realized was kind of a combination of both names we liked - perfect compromise.

(so no, she's not named after the motorcycle.)

(and her middle name is after my great-grandmother.)

Ooooh I like Harper a lot and it was in the running for a while but our last name starts with an H and I’m weird about shit like that.

Harley is a fantastic name and I love that it has meaning. Also, I’m going to need more pics of that sweet girl ASAP. kthanxbai!

This stool is my childhood.
I have had one since I was 2 years old. My brother has one with his name. My mom got Mike one for Christmas a few years ago so he wouldn’t feel left out.
This will be one of the first things my mama buys our bunny after it has a name.
This is going to be a tradition in our family and I love it.
btw y’all should be following tralfamadorian. Her light brown baby is real, real cute!

dailykayla asked: My mother got my name from a soap opera. In fact, every Kayla I know born in the 80's says her mother also got her name from...Days Of Our Lives.
I agree a name needs to sound good on a child and adult. I feel sorry for my sister, Katelynn, when she's 30's and 40's...she is going to sound like a 5-year old. BUT there are so many Katelynn's in her age group, it may become norm. /shrug.

hahah thats awesome! my parents got my name off of a street sign in New Orleans.

So all the rage in the infant world these days is wall quotes. Inspirational type shit on the wall. It can be biblical, it can be whatever.
I decided that if we have a girl I am getting a Lauryn Hill quote on the wall. There are few lyrics that are more important than the following. A girl needs to realize this from the JUMP.
“Don’t be a hard rock when you really are a gem. Baby girl, respect is just a minimum.”
That shit is profound!
I’m kindding.
kind of.
